DECRA Stone Coated Steel Roofing Systems

ABOUT DECRA | Metal Roofs - Stone Coated Metal Roofs

“Elegant” and “long-lasting” are equally important characteristics when choosing a roof to protect your most prized investment—your home. In fact, a DECRA roof may be the last roof you ever need. The strength and durability of a stone coated steel roof is combined with the versatile good looks of a tile, shake or shingle exterior to give you the widest possible selection. A DECRA Roofing System is durable and will offer richness and beauty to enhance your home’s appearance.

With a proven commitment to quality and performance, DECRA Roofing Systems has over fifty years of experience manufacturing and marketing stone coated steel roofing systems.

DECRA Roofing Systems are manufactured in Corona, California at a state of the art manufacturing facility registered by UL to ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001 and most recently ISO 14001:2004.

DECRA Roofing Systems’ quality systems have been continuously maintained since 1993 when the company’s Corona facility was first certified to ISO 9001:1997 and later certified in 2003 to ISO 9001:2000. In 2009, DECRA electively chose to upgrade to ISO 9001:2008

In 2008, DECRA became registered to OHSAS 18001. This registration exemplifies DECRA’s commitment to the safety of their employees, visitors, and vendors. OHSAS 18001 goes beyond all federal and state regulations. It requires detailed, company specific, policies, procedures, work instructions, employee training, measurements, recordkeeping, and continuous improvement. It is DECRA’s belief that commitment to this registration will enhance the ability to minimize exposure to health and safety risks.

In 2009, DECRA successfully completed the requirements for and became registered to ISO 14001:2004. This accomplishment demonstrates DECRA’s commitment to the environment and willingness to continuous improvements to both its products and manufacturing process. DECRA began to establish objectives toward this certification by publishing “DECRA’s Environmental Commitment” and implementing policies in support of this commitment statement in 2008.

DECRA PRODUCT HISTORY

Over the years, DECRA Roofing Systems has made advancements in production, styles, color, and installation methods, but the product’s origins will forever remain an ingenious solution that has benefited people around the world for over 50 years.

DECRA Roofing Systems has a captivating history dating back to World War II. Frequent bombings on British soil by the German Luftwaffe produced an urgent need to reconstruct many buildings quickly and easily out of makeshift materials. The most common material used were sheets of corrugated metal.

While the corrugated metal provided a quick remedy to reconstruct damaged buildings, evening bombing raids continued to be menacing. The Luftwaffe dropped flairs to help illuminate the bombing runs. Since the new buildings were made of a shiny reflective metal, they became easy targets because they illuminated the bombsite. The problem was compounded during the war years, because the use of oil-based paint to protect and camouflage buildings was impossible to obtain outside military applications.
